Hey, hello, hi! My name is Sam Dylan Finch, and I am the founder of ​Let’s Queer Things Up!

LQTU! is a blog that tackles political issues and pop culture from a queer, feminist perspective. It is a unique site, visited by readers from over 180 countries around the world. Together we unpack interesting and, at times, controversial topics ranging from gender identity to mental health in a way that is deeply personal, honest, and accessible.

With four million page views in this last month alone, the blog has grown beyond what I ever imagined. What started as a blog to express my passions has now become an educational resource in universities, a community for folks with marginalized identities, and a place to find fresh and exciting articles that challenge the status quo.

This website has been a labor of love, and in my perfect world, it would be my full-time job. However, there’s rent to be paid, and as a graduate student, tuition is incredibly expensive. I am currently relying on student loans, which ultimately mean scraping by every month. I would love to commit more time to LQTU!, posting even more content and a wider variety of media, but the financial strain ultimately means that I must focus my energies elsewhere.

With your donations, I could post articles more frequently, including book reviews and feature articles, where I can create greater visibility for other marginalized artists and activists; I could make videos, hire a comic artist, and expand this platform to include other writers.

Best of all, I could also begin to pay our amazing staff. Let’s Queer Things Up! has a team of awesome volunteers that help moderate comments, design illustrations, edit the writing, and ensure that everything is running smoothly. Unfortunately, because I’m broke, I can’t compensate them for their time.

Donations could alleviate the financial barriers that prevent me from investing more time, more energy, and more money into making this website a greater resource and a larger platform.
